Hello...we've been at camp all week! WHEW...WHAT A WEEK!!!! Jeremy and I were the camp nurses for Royal Family Kids Camp this past week. For those of you who don't know about Royal Family Kids Camp (RFKC), it is a 5 day camp at Covenant Cedars for 48 abused and neglected kids, ages 7-11, here in Omaha. It is emotionally, physically, spiritually, mentally exhausting; it is beautiful, terrifying, wonderful and everything else in between. The world these little ones live in is heartbreaking and it is one thing to read about their background, but to hear their story from their mouths, or to see the effects of the abuse (one little pumpkin kept wetting her pants because of the trauma), is a whole different thing. The range of emotions you feel is so hard to explain, but as painful as it can be at times, I thank God for giving me the opportunity to serve Him by serving His Innocent Children. Our goal is to create positive memories for these kids; for some, it has to last them all year long. It is one week where they can be a kid, where they are constantly encouraged, praised, loved, and most of all, safe. And when I get tired or I feel like I have nothing else to give, God reminds me of His purpose and gently lifts me back up. So thank you, Lord, for answered prayers, a safe week, beautiful memories, and may Your Protection and Your Love surround those precious 48 campers as they enter back into their ugly world.
Oh, and while we were there, Bella perfected her crawling and gained about a million teeth!!! I went to camp with an infant and returned with a toddler! My niece, Brooke, helped by being Bella's nanny at camp. She was such a great help and Bella, of course, LOVED watching the kids, dancing and clapping, and being at camp!!! Her little smile was so refreshing and inspiring and she just seemed to show up at the right times. And the kids just adored her! AND her friend Ainsley was there and they had so much fun talking and eating together. We're hoping they can get together more often, especially at Sunday School!!!!
